The Last Question..

…is one hell of a short story.

I just finished re-reading what is becoming one of my favorite short stories, ‘The Last Question’ by Isaac Asimov. Granted some of the physics concepts are way over my head, and I’ve never considered myself a fan of science fiction in general, but this is some stellar stuff. The sheer magnitude of Asimov’s imagination defies belief sometimes, much like Arthur C Clarke’s work on the Odyssey novels and Tolkien in LOTR (though I have never finished reading the LOTR novels). And there is, of course, the amazing climax.

Put aside half an hour and read this if you haven’t already. Read it here.

Oh man thats my favourite. You must have read “The Best of Isaac Asimov” by Asimov himself. That and “The Collected Stories of Arthur C. Clarke” have to be two of the best Sci Fi books ever. The Tales from The White Hart by Sir Arthur have to be some of the funniest stuff Ive ever read.

This is one of my favourite stories…… i agree………

Yep, I LOVE “The Last Question”. Great ending even for us godless heathons!

I also have to recommend Greg Egan’s “Learning to be Me” from his Axiomatic collection of short shories.
